FAQS
You have questions? We have answers!
Why is a Regular Grooming Schedule Important?
Keeping your dog on a regular and consistent grooming schedule is one of the best ways to ensure a safe, comfortable, and beautiful groom.
Dogs that are groomed every 4–8 weeks become familiar with the grooming process, making them calmer, more cooperative, and easier to handle on the grooming table. This allows our groomers to safely achieve the style and finish you're looking for while providing the best possible experience for your dog.
Dogs that are groomed only once to five times per year are often less accustomed to the grooming process. They may be anxious, fearful, or unable to remain still, which can make grooming significantly more challenging. Excessive movement increases the risk of accidental irritation or minor injuries, such as razor burn, small nicks, or clipper irritation, despite every precaution taken by our grooming team.
A consistent grooming routine benefits everyone—your dog stays healthier and more comfortable, your groomer can safely produce a higher-quality groom, and each visit becomes a more positive experience.
What shots do you require?
We require a current Rabies shot for any animal that comes into our salon. If you cant find your paperwork, we can call your vet to verify your pet is up to date.
What if my dog is matted?
No worries! We understand matting does happen and we are happy to get your dog back in tip top shape! However, if matting is severe there will be a $25 matting fee. This is because it does require quite a bit of extra time. We would love to give you advice and suggestions on a regular grooming schedule to prevent future matting! In rare cases we do refer to a vet.
How long will it take to get an appointment?
We try to keep our wait times for appointments reasonable! We understand sometimes you forget to schedule your dog's grooming appointments until you look down and they are in desperate need of a haircut! Generally we can get you in within a week!
Do you offer early drop off and/or late pick up?
Yes! We are proud to offer FREE early drop off and late pick up! Early drop off begins at 7:30am and late pick up ends at 6:00pm. If you need extra early drop off or extra late pick up after these hours, we can do that for a fee please contact us directly to discuss 501-547-4613
Does my dog stay all day?
Yes. Drop of time is 8-9am (unless prior arrangements have been made) and pick up is generally between 3-5pm. We will call/text as soon as your dog is done!
Will my dog be in a cage?
No. We are proudly a cage free facility. Dogs get to enjoy a daycare type environment while with us! They come home tired and clean!
What if I don't want my dog to stay all day?
We do offer an Express Groom for an additional $25 per dog. The Express Groom guarantees your dog out no later than noon. There are a limited number of Express Groom spots a day, if this is something you are interested in please call 501-547-4613 for more information.
Do you have muzzles?
No. We do not muzzle. It is so important to us for not only you but for your dog to have a positive experience with us. Dogs are family members. We would rather work with a dog and gain its trust and build a relationship rather than take their defenses away causing fear and anxiety associated with grooming. We are not here to traumatize your dog by forcing anything. We strive to build relationships with our four legged clients, we want them to be happy to come see us!
What if my dog has fleas/ticks?
If your dog has external parasites, we will take care of them, however there is a fee. We do recommend contacting your vet for the best method of flea/tick prevention.
Can I request a specific groomer?
Absolutely! We understand that many dogs (and their owners) develop a bond with a particular groomer. If you have a preferred groomer, simply let us know when you schedule your appointment, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
All requests for a specific groomer must be made at the time the appointment is scheduled. While we will always do our best to honor your request, availability cannot be guaranteed if the request is made at drop-off or after the appointment has already been booked.
If your requested groomer is unavailable on your preferred date, we will let you know and help you choose another appointment time or discuss scheduling with another qualified member of our team.
Owner Grooming Requests (Mallory)
If you would like Mallory, the owner, to personally groom your dog, this is considered an Executive Level Grooming service and the following policies apply:
-
Dogs must remain on a consistent 5-week recurring grooming schedule.
-
Executive Level Grooms with Mallory include a $50 Executive Groom upgrade fee for the additional time, individualized attention, and personalized care dedicated to your dog’s grooming experience.
-
Due to Mallory’s limited availability, business responsibilities, and ongoing health-related scheduling needs, we ask that clients choosing Mallory for their dog’s grooming commit to maintaining their scheduled appointments. Any missed, canceled, or rescheduled appointment must be paid for before your dog can continue on Mallory’s schedule.
-
If the recurring schedule is not maintained, your dog may be scheduled with another qualified groomer or placed on Mallory’s waitlist until an opening becomes available.
These policies allow Mallory to provide consistent, individualized care while maintaining availability for clients who are committed to a recurring grooming schedule.
Our Quality Guarantee
Every groomer at High Standards Grooming & Boarding is trained to uphold our grooming standards and is overseen by our Grooming Manager and/or Mallory. We work together as a team to ensure every dog receives the same level of exceptional care, regardless of which groomer performs the service.
If you have a specific vision for your dog’s haircut or styling, please discuss it with us at drop-off. Photos are always welcome and are one of the best ways to communicate exactly what you are looking for. The more information you provide at the beginning of the appointment, the better we can tailor your dog’s groom to your expectations while keeping your dog’s comfort, coat condition, and overall well-being our top priorities.
If there is anything about your dog’s groom that you are not completely happy with—whether it is the haircut, length, style, or another cosmetic detail—please do not hesitate to let us know. We are more than happy to make reasonable adjustments whenever possible. Our goal is for every customer to leave feeling confident and satisfied with their dog’s groom.
We encourage you to reach out within 24 hours of your appointment if something about your dog’s haircut does not look quite right or you would like to discuss a reasonable adjustment. We are happy to address concerns and, when possible, make changes to help ensure you are satisfied with the final result.
Any requested haircut adjustments must be communicated within 24 hours of the grooming appointment, and your dog must be brought back in for any approved adjustments within 7 days of the original grooming service. This allows us to properly evaluate the groom while the haircut is still fresh and make any necessary corrections in a timely manner.
Your satisfaction is important to us, and we want every experience at High Standards to reflect the care, quality, and attention to detail our name represents.
High Standards—More Than a Name, It’s Our Promise.
